Many of you want to remove credit card debt completely. You want to have financial security. This may not be a good way. A little debt is not that bad as it is made out to be. It is good to keep a little debt. But, you have to maintain control. Though it may sound senseless, It is true that if you keep debts open and active, you will have help in your credit.
You have to make consistent payments to your bills. This determines your individual credit score. If you eliminate credit card debt totally, you will fail to show a proper payment history. Many people close their accounts after complete debt payment. This is not a good thing. Your accounts should be active. Your individual report will look good to the future creditors. If you eliminate the debt completely, you are keeping it active just for show off.
The creditor looks at your past history on your report. He also looks for your present capacity to pay. He wants to see many closed accounts at last. This is true, if the person eliminates the credit card debt at once. The potential creditor receives a red flag. He wants to scan your payment history. He has to face your wall of closed accounts. You do not have to search payment history for full accounts.
I worked as a loan officer. The potential clients wanted some hard requirements for low interest loan. In many cases, individual abruptly finished all credit card debts.
